So everyone is into blogging! Well maybe not everyone, but many people who have something to say are! And that is many! We have too. That is, we have lots to say and that’s why we have introduced the de Bono blogging site. Oh! You don’t know what blogging is. See below to find out and then come back to the rest of our story.
You see we have lots to say about thinking, creativity and other such interesting subjects, but then you may have too! You may not agree with some of the concepts we propagate. On the other hand you may have experienced lots of successes with some of Edward de Bono’s thinking and creativity tools.
Let me first tell you something more about us, the de Bono Institute in Melbourne Australia. You may ask why is such an institute in Australia? It is way down under, isn’t it? Why is it not in New York or London?
Dr Edward de Bono was once asked to describe his ‘ideal country’. He replied: “It would have a population of under 25 million; it would have to be somewhere in the Pacific Basin; it would have to have the English language... It would have to have a reasonably articulate, literate and clever people. And with that going for it, we could create the most astonishing country. But actually it already exists - it’s called Australia.”
But you see that is the problem with blogging. I merrily talk about Edward de Bono and you haven’t the foggiest idea of who the man is and why everybody, but you, thinks he is famous. Easily solved, see our story about Dr. Edward de Bono.
In 1996, the Andrews Foundation, a philanthropic trust based in Melbourne, approached Dr Edward de Bono. The aim was to turn his “most astonishing country” into a reality. The Foundation had already committed to Australia’s past by funding the restoration of the National Trust’s Ripponlea Estate. Now it saw an opportunity to invest in Australia’s future. The idea was to help Australia become a world leader in innovation and creativity. The result was the de Bono Institute, a not-for-profit organisation based in Melbourne, supported by the Foundation.
So now you know who were are!
But back to blogging, in cyberspace we would like to share our ideas and expertise not only to build that incredible country that Edward dreamed about but an incredible world.
You and I know that it is impossible to achieve this, but at least you and I can make a small difference.
I will regularly post to this blog but expect to hear from you too!

What is a Blog?
A blog is often a mixture of what is happening in a person's life and what is happening on the Web, a kind of hybrid diary/guide site, although there are as many unique types of blogs as there are people. People maintained blogs long before the term was coined, but the trend gained momentum with the introduction of automated published systems, most notably Blogger@blogger.com. A concise definition is: “a frequent, chronological publication of personal thoughts and Web links.”
There are many blogging websites, you can even have your own. Companies have blog sites where well-positioned employees write about their company. There are also those where disgruntled employees and customers vent their anger.
The de Bono Institute is a different blogging site. We like to share our creative ideas and ask you to do the same. Now that you know the definition of what blogging is click here to go back to our introduction.
